Let Loose on Mountains

A day's walk in the mountains is a fabulous tonic! Leave the stresses of life behind, get the wind in your face, and embrace whatever comes your way.

It is a well-established fact that being outdoors is good for us. Up high, or on a challenging route; facing the weather - all adds to the experience. Many of you do go out regularly - so what can a guide do for you?

Part of the qualification as a mountain leader is on the environment. Certainly, the flora and fauna but also the geology, weather, and local history. Your leader will be able to impart knowledge and skills that you may not get from your usual walking companions. Navigation training, how to stay safe and what to do when things go wrong, are all subjects he or she will be only to happy too talk about.

So, lets have a look at the UK Mountains.

What about Europe?

Think big, lots of space, breath-taking views, and we're in the mountains of Europe. They are also plentiful, intriguing, and well geared up for visitors.

The European Alps stretch through seven countries; the Pyrenees separating France and Spain are 800 kms long; the Picos de Europa in Spain; the Tatra in Poland; Corsica - there are a lot of mountains.

These mountain ranges are often equiped with mountain huts or refuges where you can stay the night, have a meal and remain up high to continue your journey the next day.

Europe: What can we do for you?

And the rest of the world?

We are looking at trekking peaks here. Summits we can climb without technical knowledge or equipment. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; Mt Kinabalu in Borneo; Mt Toubkal in Morocco, Mt Roraima in Venezuela.
